Van Zile Cuisine Choices

Fresh and full of flavor, not to mention nutritious! Our national award-winning Department of Dining Services is proud to offer a wide variety of made-from-scratch menu items that will make you feel like you never left home.  In addition to an ever-changing menu of the classics, each dining center offers a variety of specialty foods including vegetarian and ethnic cuisines. 

Those of you trying to avoid the freshman 15 or just trying to eat a balanced diet will surely want to check out our nutrition information.  The calorie calculator will help you reach your nutritional goals by providing information for individual items.  To begin, click on the dining center’s daily menu.

Borders

If you crave a taste from the Southwest, then make Borders at Van Zile your stop! At lunch, Borders offer a choice of crisp or soft taco shells, Tostitos® tortilla chips, seasoned taco meat, and refried beans daily. Mix and match these to make an array of southwest entrees, and then top it off with your choice of cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, black olives, picante sauce, and sour cream. Wednesday dinner sizzles with a variety of selections including fajitas, burritos, tamales, or spicy rice.


Change Ups!

Change Ups! at Van Zile is the perfect way to end your Thursday. Change Ups! is designed to provide students a change from the ordinary or the familiar. Depending on the theme, it may introduce students to flavors from around the world such as Vietnamese, Moroccan, or Caribbean, or it could be a blast from the past such as hand-packed burgers, shakes, and malts. Whatever the theme, be assured it will be a real treat!


Classics and Grill

Enjoy selecting from a combination of the Classics menu and the Grill at lunch. Each day, this line features two meat entrées, a vegetarian entrée, a selection of side dishes from the Classics menu in addition to hamburgers, cheeseburgers, garden burgers (upon request), hot dogs, and French fries. Top your grill entrée with an assortment of condiments located in the dining room.


Classics

The Classics menu serves up a variety of homemade entrees and side dishes. Each day, the Classics menu features a minimum of two meat entrées, a vegetarian entrée, a selection of side dishes, and made-from-scratch breads and rolls (dinner only). The menu items on the classics line range from tried-and-true student favorites like Hot Ham and Cheddar Sandwiches to a reflection of the hottest cuisine trends such as Greek-Style Salad Plate with Red Pepper Hummus. If you enjoy these homemade favorites, you will appreciate that our menu never entirely repeats itself.


Dashers

Dashers at Van Zile is the fast, convenient way for you to get a nutritious meal on the go! For breakfast, lunch, or dinner, choose from any Classic or Specialty menu entrée and side dishes. Then swing by the dining room for your choice of yogurt, soup, salad, dessert, and condiments available self-serve. Additionally, you may select from a wide variety of beverages including sodas, milk, juice, coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate, and tea. Don’t forget the cereal bar is available three meals a day. Portable, disposable containers and serviceware are provided for your carryout convenience.


Delicatessen

If you crave a gourmet sandwich, the Van Zile Delicatessen is the place for you. The Delicatessen features deli ham, turkey, American cheese, and Swiss cheese each day in addition to a specialty deli meat and cheese. Van Zile offers a variety of breads, rolls, and freshly-baked homemade sub buns in addition to shredded lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green pepper rings, and other condiments to complete your sandwich. Don’t forget to add a bag of chips and dill pickle spear!


Cucina Italiana

The spot to be every Tuesday night is Cucina Italiana, Van Zile’s made-to-order Italian skillet station. You customize your Italian skillet from a variety of vegetables, pastas, and meats combined and sautéed right before your eyes. A variety of sauces and homemade bread sticks are available to finish out your skillet meal.


Poco Italia

Your mouth will water with the aroma from the homemade selections at Poco Italia. At lunch Poco Italia features three-cheese pan pizza and a specialty pizza daily. Both pizzas start with a made-from-scratch crust, hand topped with a variety of fresh ingredients, and finished with cheese freshly prepared in front of you. For dinner, select from three-cheese or specialty pizza as well as pasta with sauce. Top your dinner off with a side of hot, freshly-baked bread sticks!


Willie Wok

The spot to be every Monday night is Willie Wok, Van Zile’s made-to-order stir fry station. Customize your meal by selecting from a variety of fresh meats and vegetables then, watch your stir fry prepared right before your eyes. While waiting, choose from a variety of sauces and white rice to complete your meal.
