Departmental Guest Housing
Guest housing is available for individuals who are coming to K-State for academic purposes, university events or official campus visits. Availability of apartments and residence hall rooms will depend on the purpose of the visit and time of year. Those coming to K-State for academic purposes such as research or collaboration may want to look at our University Guest Housing options.
K-State Housing and Dining Services offers guest housing in one of our residence halls during the summer for individuals here for university-related business, or a university event. We are not taking reservations this far in advance. We set aside adequate space.
Guest Housing rates for summer 2017 will not be known until spring 2017. As a guideline, the room rates for 2016 were $27 per night (double room) and $35 per night (single room).
Academic Year 2016-17 (Ford Hall and West Hall)
Guests may rent one of these apartments during the academic year, for up to 30 days. The apartments are not available for personal visits, housing for students' family members, etc. The apartments are available only to those coming for academic purposes, university events or campus visits.
One guest apartment is available in Ford Hall (Map) during the academic year. West Hall (Map) also has one guest apartment. Ford Hall is an all-female facility, and the apartment is not available to single males.
The cost for the 2016-17 academic year is $50.00 per night. The charge is for the apartment, not per-person.
Both apartments have a private, attached bathroom, and are furnished.
The Ford Hall apartment has a bedroom with one double bed, and a separate room with kitchenette (refrigerator, oven, microwave oven and sink). Utensils are not provided.
The West Hall apartment has one double bed in the bedroom, and a sofa bed in the living room. The apartment has a small refrigerator and microwave oven. Single males can only be housed in the West Hall apartment.
All bedding, towels, washcloths, soap, drinking cups, etc. will be provided, and beds will be made.
Wireless: Access is available in our residence halls and dining centers. Temporary guests may connect to the KSU Guest limited wireless network. No wireless key or registration is required. Long-term residents who have an eID may connect to the K-State wireless network. Registration of the computer is required.
Ethernet/Wired: You may get more information on an Ethernet (wired) connection from our residential networking office. Registration of the computer is required, as well as a K-State eID. An Ethernet connection allows e-mail, Internet and K-State network access.
Laser printing is available at the residence hall front desk for 5¢ per page; however, payment must be made via CatCash, which requires a K-State eID.
K-State's Campus Maps Main Page will be very useful to first-time visitors. You'll find links to various maps and services.
Residence hall parking lots are controlled by Parking Services, so we are unable to make arrangements for your parking. With a temporary permit, you may park in open areas of university lots, but you must avoid handicapped stalls, staff reserved sections and stalls, metered stalls, fire lanes, etc. Participants with a proper permit may park in lot categories D, GM, O, R, T, W and Z, excluding reserved and restricted stalls. Lots designated as Y lots are restricted. (Parking Map)
Each vehicle parked in university lots in the summer must have a permit to park on campus from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visitor permits can be purchased from K-State Parking Services at the Parking Garage, 706 N 17th St., or after business hours at the west entrance of Edwards Hall, 1810 Kerr Drive. For the 2016-17 school year, the cost of a visitor permit is $5 per day, $20 per week and $40 per month.
