Departmental Guest Housing

Guests of K-State Housing and Dining Services are welcome to stay in our convenient on-campus housing during a visit.

Summer 2016

K-State Housing and Dining Services offers guest housing during the summer to individuals here for university-related business or a university event. Guests will be housed in Moore Hall. Please check in at the front desk. (Campus Map)  (Google Map)

All rooms are two-person residence hall rooms, with a community bathroom on each corridor. Single males and females are normally housed on separate corridors, with the exception that married couples and family members may share a room. If a male and female share a room, our practice is to place them on a female corridor, and the male will need to use the bathroom on a male corridor. Our suggested checkout time is 1 p.m., but we can accommodate exceptions.

Availability

Summer guest housing will be available from May 29 until August 12, 2016. We will be providing guest housing during orientation days, June 7-26, for those needing to arrive early. Please be assured that we will allocate sufficient space for orientation housing needs.

Cost

Double room: $27 per person, per night

Single room: $35 per person, per night

Long-Term Rates

For a continuous stay of 14 days or longer, a room and board package is available at a reduced cost. A package includes a regular room, either double- or single-occupancy, and 20 meals per week. (long-term rates chart) Please call us at 785 532-6368 to arrange for a stay of 14 days or longer.

Moore Hall has a kitchenette and television room in the basement lobby. There is a laundry facility in the basement. The charge to use washers and dryers is $1.00 per load. You may purchase a laundry use card at the front desk for $4 or $16. K-State students may use Cat Cash for laundry. Unused value is not refunded. Our washers require the use of liquid detergent.

Parking

Residence hall parking lots are controlled by Parking Services, so we are unable to make arrangements for your parking. With a temporary permit, you may park in open areas of university lots, but you must avoid handicapped stalls, staff reserved sections and stalls, metered stalls, fire lanes, etc. Participants with a proper permit may park in general lots designated by letters D, GM, O, R, T, W and Z, excluding reserved and restricted stalls in these lots. Lots designated as Y lots are restricted.

Each vehicle parked in university lots in the summer must have a permit to park on campus from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visitor permits can be purchased from K-State Parking Services. For the 2015-16 school year, the cost of a visitor permit is $5 per day, $20 per week and $40 per month. The rate for summer 2016 has not been set.

With a permit, Lots A14 and A15 near Moore Hall will be available to you, as well as Lot B2, north of Claflin Rd. (Parking Map)

Online Request for Guest Housing 2016

You may reserve a room in summer 2016 by using our online reservation form. The online request can be completed in about one minute. Please submit a separate request for each person staying. Rates are per-person.

If you wish to share a double room with someone, please list the name of the roommate in the "special housing arrangements" box at the end of Step 1, Section B.

After you enter your information in Step 1, continue to Step 2. If your information is correct, please click on Submit your Request at the bottom. You should receive a confirmation e-mail with directions to Moore Hall, links to maps, information on services provided and contact information. Please allow a few minutes for the e-mail to arrive.

Payment

  1. Please pay upon arrival at the front desk of Moore Hall, by cash, check, American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa.
  2. If a university department or other organization will pay for your stay, please provide contact information as part of your online reservation.
  3. The fee for orientation does not include guest housing. The fee for Wildcat Warm-up includes housing on Friday and Saturday nights, for the future K-State student only. Wildcat Warm-up participants will spend Friday and Saturday nights in Ford or Haymaker Hall, and family members along for the trip would remain in Moore Hall.
  4. If you wish to arrange a 20-meal-per-week meal plan after your arrival, please visit the Guest Services office in Derby Dining Center between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The cost for three meals per day will be $19. (To request meals in advance, use the box on the online reservation labeled "Please specify any special housing arrangements, comments or questions.")
Refunds

If you check out earlier than expected, we will refund payment for nights not stayed. We can make a refund immediately if you paid by credit card. State of Kansas accounting policies do not permit us to make an immediate refund if you paid by cash or check, and your payment has been deposited. Refunds of deposited payments made by cash or check will be made by a State of Kansas check, which may take several weeks.

If the length of your stay is uncertain, we recommend that you pay only for those days you are certain to need, and extend your stay, if necessary.

Checkout

On your last day with us, please check out by returning your key and access card to the reception desk by 1 p.m., if possible. If you need to leave later in the day, please stop by the reception desk in advance. We can usually accommodate a later checkout.
