Information For New Residents:
Living On Campus
Mission
The residence halls at K-State have a rich tradition of providing a living and learning environment for students that encourages personal growth and success.
The residence halls provide an environment that is friendly and accepting of all students.
The residence halls provide an environment that fosters academic success which contributes to the quality of a student's academic experiences (academic clusters and intensive study floors).
The residence halls provide opportunities for involvement which contribute to the student's out-of-classroom education and development.
The residence halls assist students in connecting with campus resources (academic advising, financial assistance, recreational services, and more).
Leadership Opportunities And Programs
The K-State residence halls offer abundant opportunities for students to experience and develop leadership skills through involvement in various student groups.
Hall and floor governments develop, plan and implement various activities; educational and cultural programs, intramural events, dances, movie nights, picnics, formal and informal dinners, community service projects, and more. The Judicial Board provides an opportunity to address one another regarding policy violations that impact the community.
The Kansas State University Association of Residence Halls (KSUARH) plans and coordinates various programs and activities during the academic year. Also, KSUARH works closely with hall representatives to develop and implement policies that promote respect and acceptance of all students in the residence halls.

Application
Students interested in living in K-State residence halls will need to complete and return an Application for Residence Hall Contract with a nonrefundable application fee of $25. A contract will be sent as soon as an application has been received. There is no application deadline for contracts since hall assignments are done on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Term
The contract is for space in the residence hall system and a dining services' option for the entire academic year (fall and spring semesters) or the remaining portion of the academic year of the time of initial occupancy. This contract is nontransferable.
Contract
Once a contract has been received, a space will be reserved in the residence hall system. Because a contract indicates a hall preference, it is to a student's advantage to return the contract promptly.
Payment
A payment needs to accompany a returned contract. A contract received without payment will be returned. After a payment plan has been selected, the student will receive a statement in his/her mailbox prior to each due date.
Compare the cost of living in the residence halls with other living options, contracts or leases, including costs students never think about -- trash pick-up fee, utilities, telephone service, etc. The K-State residence halls are the best bargain around for academic support, economics, convenience, safety, nutrition and lifestyle. The experience in the residence halls can be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live and learn with other students.
