Departmental Guest Housing (School Year)

Our Departmental Guest Housing service includes summer guest housing in the residence halls, and apartments in Ford Hall and West Hall that are available in fall and spring semesters. This service is available for individuals who are coming to K-State for academic purposes, university events or official campus visits. We are unable to accommodate social visits.

Those coming to K-State as visiting professors, collaborating in research, etc. are eligible for our University Guest Housing options.

Summer 2022 Guest Housing

We will use Wefald Hall for guest housing. It has double rooms, at $35 (double) and $40 (single) per person. To reserve a room, send an e-mail to guestrh@ksu.edu.

 (Google Map - Wefald)

Wefald Hall rooms are not suites. There is a community bathroom on each corridor. When you enter, you will see a row of four sinks. You may choose from one of five private bathrooms, each with a sink, toilet and shower. There is at least one ADA-equipped bathroom in each community bathroom. We will allocate and mark one corridor and bathroom for males, and another for females. We will also have a bathroom marked coed. (There are three corridors on Wefald Hall floors.) (Wefald Hall Information)

Please see Reserving a Room for Summer Guest Housing below.

Availability

Summer guest housing will be available from May 29 through the night of August 11, 2022.

Wefald Hall Nightly Room Rates (2022)

Wefald Double: $35 per-person, per-night (one single-gender bathroom on each corridor)

Wefald Single: $40 per-person, per-night (one single-gender bathroom on each corridor)

We do not collect payment for summer guest housing in advance. Payment is requested upon arrival, by cash, check or credit card.

Long-Term Room Rates (2022)

For a continuous stay of 14 days or longer, a room and board package is available at a reduced cost. A package includes a regular room, either double- or single-occupancy, and 20 meals per week. (long-term rates chart) Please call us at 785 532-6368 to arrange for a stay of 14 days or longer.

Refunds

If the length of stay is uncertain, we recommend paying the number of nights certain to be needed, and extending if necessary. Payments made by credit card can be refunded immediately (to the card originally used), but there can be a four-to-six-week delay on refunds of deposited payments made by cash or check.

If you wish to cancel a meal plan, we will refund the cost of future meals paid for, but we do not make refunds for missed meals, as the plan is already discounted.

If there is uncertainty regarding meals desired, it may be better to pay for each meal at the checker's stand, rather than arranging a meal plan. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted by the checker. The amount saved with a daily meal plan ($2.00) is less than the cost of any single missed meal.

Amenities

The following items will be provided in your room: sheets, pillow, pillowcase, blanket, bath towel, hand towel, washcloth and plastic drinking cup. Towels and linens may be exchanged at the front desk.

There is a laundry facility in each residence hall. The charge to use a washer or dryer is $2.00 per load. You may purchase a laundry use card at the front desk for $8.00 cash. K-State students may use Cat Cash for laundry. Unused value is not refunded. Our washers require the use of liquid detergent.

Policies

Weapons: Effective July 1, 2017, the university has a new weapons policy. Everyone in the university community, as well as guests, should be familiar with it. (link)

Maps

K-State's Campus Maps Main Page will be useful to first-time visitors. You'll find links to various maps and services.

Parking

Residence hall parking lots are controlled by Parking Services, so we are unable to make arrangements for your parking. With a temporary permit, you may park in open areas of university lots, but you must avoid unauthorized use of handicapped stalls, staff reserved sections and stalls, metered stalls, fire lanes, etc. Participants with a proper permit may park in general lots designated by letters D, GM, O, R, T, W and Z, excluding reserved and restricted stalls in these lots. Lots designated as Y lots are restricted.

Each vehicle parked in university lots in the summer must have a permit to park on campus from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visitor permits can be purchased from K-State Parking Services. The cost of a visitor permit in summer 2022 is $6 per day, $22 per week and $45 per month.

With a permit, Lot D5 west of Kramer Dining Center will be available to you, as well as the university lot across Denison Ave. from Wefald Hall.

Reserving a Wefald Hall Room for Summer Guest Housing

Send an e-mail to guestrh@ksu.edu. Please include guests' names, in and out dates, and room style (double $35 or single $40). The bathroom area is centrally located on each corridor. Wefald Hall has three corridors per floor. The plan is to have bathrooms marked male, female and coed. Within the marked bathroom areas are five private, lockable bathrooms.

Refunds

If you check out earlier than expected, we will refund payment only for housing and dining services beyond the date and time of the request. We can make a refund immediately if you paid by credit card. (We can refund only to the card used for the payment.) State of Kansas accounting policies do not permit us to make an immediate refund if you paid by cash or check, and your payment has been deposited. Refunds of deposited payments made by cash or check must be made by a State of Kansas check, which may take several weeks.

If the length of your stay is uncertain, we recommend that you pay only for those days you are certain to need, and extend your stay, if necessary.

Checkout

On your last day with us, please check out by returning your key and access card to the reception desk by 1 p.m., if possible. If you need to leave later in the day, we can normally accommodate that. If the front desk is not staffed, look for a sign with a phone number for staff on duty.
