Departmental Guest Housing

Our Departmental Guest Housing service includes summer guest housing in the residence halls, and apartments in Ford Hall and West Hall that are available in fall and spring semesters. This service is available for individuals who are coming to K-State for academic purposes, university events or official campus visits. We are unable to accommodate social visits.

Those coming to K-State as visiting professors, collaborating in research, etc. may want to look at our University Guest Housing options.

Summer 2019 Guest Housing

K-State Housing and Dining Services offers guest housing in one of our residence halls during the summer for individuals here for university-related business, or a university event.

Guests will be housed in Haymaker Hall, which will be open throughout the summer. Please check in at the front desk. (Campus Map) (Google Map)

Most guest housing rooms are two-person residence hall rooms, with one community bathroom on each corridor. Single males and females are normally housed on separate corridors, because bathrooms on corridors with regular double rooms have one central, single-gender bathroom. Regular Room Quick Tour (YouTube)

Multiperson Suites: For families only, we will have a limited number of multiperson suites ($33 per-person, per-night), which have an attached bathroom (shower and toilet). Multiperson suites can accommodate two, three or four guests. The majority of these suites have a two-person bedroom on either side of a bathroom. The bathroom (which can be locked) may be shared with another family. There is a sink and mirror in each bedroom. Because of space limitations, we can only provide suites to families needing housing for both males and females. Multiperson Suite Quick Tour (YouTube)

When making an online reservation (see Online Request for Guest Housing below), a separate submission for each person staying is needed. There is an input box provided, so the first and last names of all requested roommates can be listed.

Availability

Summer guest housing will be available from May 26 until August 16, 2019.

Orientation Housing

Because orientation in June starts early in the day, new students and family members may wish to stay in guest housing the night before, or possibly the night after. We want to accommodate everyone who needs this housing. When possible, please make a reservation in advance. (See Online Request for Guest Housing below.) We do take guests without a reservation, as well.

Wildcat Warm-up Housing

New students who have arranged to attend one of the three Wildcat Warm-up weekends in June will be housed in Ford Hall (females) and Haymaker Hall (males). Housing and meal costs during the program (Friday to Sunday) will be included in the Wildcat Warm-up fee, and the arrangements for participants will be made by the program. Participants will stay separately from any family members who travel with them, as meeting other new students is one of the goals.

Family members who have traveled with a Wildcat Warm-up participant (as well as Wildcat Warm-up participants who need to arrive early or stay late) can be accommodated in summer guest housing. This will involve separate charges, based on the housing and meals provided.

Please submit a separate reservation for each person staying in summer guest housing. The online form has an input box for guests to give the name of any roommates.

Room Rates 2019

Regular Double: $30 per-person, per-night (one single-gender bathroom on each corridor)

Regular Single: $37 per-person, per-night (one single-gender bathroom on each corridor)

Multiperson Suite: $33 per-person, per-night (with attached bathroom / only for family housing, because of limited availability)

We do not collect payment for summer guest housing in advance. Payment is requested upon arrival, by cash, check or credit card.

Long-Term Rates (2019)

For a continuous stay of 14 days or longer, a room and board package is available at a reduced cost. A package includes a regular room, either double- or single-occupancy, and 20 meals per week. (long-term rates chart) Please call us at 785 532-6368 to arrange for a stay of 14 days or longer.

Parking

Residence hall parking lots are controlled by Parking Services, so we are unable to make arrangements for your parking. With a temporary permit, you may park in open areas of university lots, but you must avoid handicapped stalls, staff reserved sections and stalls, metered stalls, fire lanes, etc. Participants with a proper permit may park in general lots designated by letters D, GM, O, R, T, W and Z, excluding reserved and restricted stalls in these lots. Lots designated as Y lots are restricted.

Each vehicle parked in university lots in the summer must have a permit to park on campus from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visitor permits can be purchased from K-State Parking Services. The cost of a visitor permit in 2019 is $5 per day, $20 per week and $40 per month.

With a permit, Lots A14 and A15 near Haymaker Hall and Moore Hall will be available to you, as well as most lots immediately adjacent to other residence halls. Renovation of Lot B2, north of Claflin Rd., is planned for summer 2019. (K-State Parking Map)

Online Request for Guest Housing (Summer 2019)

You may reserve a room by using our  online reservation form. Please submit a separate request for each person staying. Rates are per-person.

If you wish to share a double room, or if you and family members need a multiperson suite, please list the names of your roommates in the "special housing arrangements"  box at the end of Step 1, Section B.

After you enter your information in Step 1, continue to Step 2. If your information is correct, please click on Submit your Request at the bottom. You should receive a confirmation e-mail with directions to Haymaker Hall, links to maps, information on services provided and contact information. Please allow a few minutes for the e-mail to arrive.

Payment

  1. Please pay upon arrival at the front desk of Haymaker Hall, by cash, check, American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa. We are unable to take a partial payment involving a credit or debit card. (If a card is to be used, the entire payment must be made with the card.)
  2. If a university department or other organization will pay for your stay, please provide contact information as part of your online reservation.
  3. The fee for orientation does not include guest housing. The fee for Wildcat Warm-up includes housing on Friday and Saturday nights, for the future K-State student only. Wildcat Warm-up participants will spend Friday and Saturday nights in Ford or Haymaker Hall, and family members along for the trip would remain in guest housing.
  4. If you wish to arrange a meal plan after your arrival, please call the Guest Services office at 785 532-6368 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. (To request meals in advance, use the box on the online reservation labeled "Please specify any special housing arrangements, comments or questions.")

Refunds

If you check out earlier than expected, we will refund payment only for housing and dining services beyond the date and time of the request. We can make a refund immediately if you paid by credit card. (We can refund only to the card used for the payment.) State of Kansas accounting policies do not permit us to make an immediate refund if you paid by cash or check, and your payment has been deposited. Refunds of deposited payments made by cash or check must be made by a State of Kansas check, which may take several weeks.

If the length of your stay is uncertain, we recommend that you pay only for those days you are certain to need, and extend your stay, if necessary.

Checkout

On your last day with us, please check out by returning your key and access card to the reception desk by 1 p.m., if possible. If you need to leave later in the day, we can normally accommodate that.
