Housing and dining services systems coordinator to be recognized at regional conference
Nov. 6, 2017 — Gamage Dissanayake, systems coordinator at housing and dining services, will receive the Support Staff Award at the Upper Midwest Region-Association of College and University Housing Officers' annual conference on Nov. 9.
The Upper Midwest Region-Association of College and University Housing Officers, or UMR-ACUHO, is a professional association dedicated to meeting and exceeding the professional development needs of student housing and residence life staff. The association has more than 110 volunteer committee members who are dedicated to delivering educational opportunities, conducting research to advance the housing and residence life field and to providing members with networking opportunities. The networking opportunities are provided for approximately 1,600 housing professionals at more than 100 member institutions.
The Tradition and Recognition Committee selects the award recipients from nominations they have received. Dissanayake was nominated and selected for his development of software that allowed students to select their desired space online, thereby automating and simplifying the room-selection process.
The conference will be Nov. 8-10 in Omaha, Nebraska. The awards will be announced at a luncheon co-hosted by the University of Nebraska, Omaha and the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
