Faculty Member of the Year awarded to Dr. Maria DePaoli
April 17, 2018—Maria DePaoli, associate professor of modern languages, has been named housing and dining services’ Faculty Member of the Year. She was nominated by her student Kyley Ast, junior in elementary education.
"I feel that I am being treated respectfully and like every opinion and idea that each student shares is acknowledged,” Ast said. “She is passionate about the classes she teaches and includes her own personal life experiences, which makes content more meaningful. She has strengthened my abilities to speak, write and understand Spanish because she requires challenging dialogue that she knows her classes are capable of having, and I see my growth from the beginning of the semester to the end."
The Faculty Member of the Year award recognizes a faculty member at K-State who makes an outstanding contribution to their students and to the community each year. DePaoli will be honored by the National Residence Hall Honorary at the organization’s annual leadership reception on April 30.
