How-Tos

Connect to the Internet

Ethernet

Ethernet is provided in all of the residence hall rooms and Jardine Apartments.

In the Residence Halls:
  • There will be a port on the wall near the closet, along with a phone jack. Make sure you use the data (Ethernet) port for your computer.
  • Ford and Haymaker Halls will have two data ports. All other halls will have one data port.
  • Hubs to provide extra ports are available for check out at any time from the ResNet Help Desk in Derby 133A.
  • Please remember that personal routers are strictly prohibited!
  • After connecting the Ethernet to your computer, your internet browser should auto-direct you to network registration. If you are already registered, you should have full access to the internet upon connecting to Ethernet.
In Jardine Apartments:
  • Ethernet is provided in all apartments.
  • Traditional Apartments should have a cable coming in through the living room window.
  • Renovated and new construction buildings should have a single Ethernet port in the living room, and may have Ethernet ports in bedrooms as well.
  • Hubs to provide extra ports are available for check out at any time from the ResNet Help Desk in Derby 133A.
  • After connecting the Ethernet to your computer, your internet browser should auto-direct you to network registration. If you are already registered, you should have full access to the internet upon connecting to Ethernet.
Wireless Internet

Wireless is provided in all of the residence hall rooms and Jardine Apartments, in addition to other areas on campus.

  • Connect to KSU Guest.
  • Navigate to wireless.ksu.edu/connect.
  • Select the Students living in K-State residence halls or Jardine apartments option. Follow the steps to complete wireless registration. Your computer will automatically be connected to the KSU Housing network.
Availability:
  • KSU Housing is available across the entire campus.
  • KSU Wireless is not available within the halls or Jardine.
To Connect a Game Device:
  • You may connect your device to the network using a wired connection only. Major game consoles generally do not work on the campus wireless network. 
To Connect a Smart Phone:
  • To connect on any smart phone, please simply connect to KSU Housing on the device you wish to register using your eID and password in the appropriate fields.
