Associate Vice President of Community Building and Director of Housing and Dining Services

Derek is the director of Housing and Dining Services at K-State. He oversees all aspects of the department, including operation of the residence halls, dining centers, facilities maintenance division and more.

Derek began his housing career as a hall director while completing his undergraduate and graduate degrees. He then served as area coordinator at the University of Georgia from 1993 to 1997. Derek came to K-State in 1997 after accepting the position of Assistant Director for Residence Life, which he held until 2005 when he was promoted to Associate Director for Administrative Services and Residence Life. In 2011, he assumed the role of director. Derek is now associate director of residence life as well, and oversees the Center for Childhood Development, Counseling Services, the K-State Student Union, Lafene Health Center and Recreational Services.

Michael Crow
Michael Crow
Associate Director for Administrative Services

Michael transferred to our department from the K-State Office of the Registrar in 2012. He is responsible for strategic leadership in financial planning and analysis, as well as fiscal resource management. Michael supervises the department's business operations, administrative services and information technology units, and manages the department’s budget.

As the associate registrar for student information systems at K-State since 2002, Michael directed the testing, training and implementation of the KSIS system. His background includes years of experience in financial services management and accounting at area businesses and state agencies.

Mary joined the department in 1973 as an administrative dietitian/assistant unit manager at Derby Dining Center and assistant instructor for the Hotel, Restaurant, Institution Management and Dietetics program. She has also served as administrative dietitian/unit manager at Kramer Dining Center, director of Derby Dining Center, and her current role as associate director of the department and assistant professor of food, nutrition, dietetics and health.

Nick Lander

Director of Housing and Residence Life

Nick has served the department in its student living area since 2008. He works with the housing staff to provide students with a safe, comfortable and learning-centered residential experience. Nick also directly supervises the Community Coordinators and is involved with safety and security, crisis management and student conduct. Previously, Nick was the coordinator for leadership development at K-State, and served in housing management roles at the University of Arizona and Ball State University.

Assistant Director Housing and Dining Services, Registered Dietitian Instructor: Food, Nutrition, Dietetics and Health

Camille began her career at K-State in 1989 and has served as service and sanitation manager at Kramer Dining Center, assistant unit director at Derby Dining Center, unit director at Van Zile Dining Center, and is currently an Assistant Director, Dining, overseeing Derby Dining Center. Camille oversees the leadership team and operations at Derby Dining Center as well as develops policies and procedures for the dining program. As an instructor in the department of Food, Nutrition, Dietetics and Health, she assists with the teaching of Management in Dietetics Practicum.

Assistant Director Housing and Dining Services, Registered Dietitian Instructor: Food, Nutrition, Dietetics and Health

Melissa joined the department in 2001 as a production and special projects dietitian. Now the unit director at Kramer Dining Center, she directs special projects, acts as dining liaison for the web team and marketing division, and serves on the Nutrition Awareness Committee.
Melissa also teaches the Quantity Food Production Management course, both on campus and online. K-State's annual culinary enhancement workshop is coordinated by Melissa, as was Jardine Marketplace's LEED Gold certification.

John Green
Associate Director of Retail Operations

John is the associate director of retail operations of Housing and Dining Services at K-State. He oversees a team of hospitality professionals working in conjunction with student employees to provide healthy, sustainable, and locally sourced foodservice options on campus. Through his role, he takes pride in developing local partnerships with area merchants, farmers and producers.
