CAT Community Questions
If you no longer plan to participate in a CAT Community, you will need to contact K-State First ASAP. Your room selection date and time would then be adjusted only to reflect your application date and time. If you drop the CAT Community after being assigned a room, that room reservation will be canceled so it can be available for a new CAT Community student.
The APDesign CAT Community is located on the 3rd floor of Goodnow, Marlatt and Wefald Halls. Goodnow Hall has traditional rooms, Marlatt Hall has traditional or suite-style and Wefald Hall has traditional-private rooms. Each hall has a limited number of rooms available for APDesign so students are evenly divided.
You do not need to be a part of a CAT Community or the same field of study to be pulled in to a roommate group with a student participating in a CAT Community. When you are assigned your room, your other roommate(s) will be assigned to the same room. Please note, if you drop the CAT Community at any time, all roommates would be removed from the room and would then re-select based on the availability at the time of removal.
Yes, roommates can live together if you participate in two different CAT Communities that are located in the same hall. Please contact housing@ksu.edu for more information on how to navigate your room selection in this scenario.
For 2026 room selection, CAT Community room assignments will be made manually. Because of this, you will not be able to access hall-specific information in the Resident Portal.
CAT Communities are available in many of our halls. View the entire list of residential CAT Communities.
