International Student Housing
International Student On-Campus Housing Options
We look forward to welcoming you to K-State on-campus housing! Living in either Jardine Apartments or our residence halls are places where students live that creates a great opportunity to find community and support. First year students are required to live in the residence halls per university policy. Non-first year undergraduates and graduate students who are single, married, or have families are eligible to live in Jardine Apartments.
The information below is specific to our international student population to help set you up for success in the housing process. A verified K-State eID and password are required to complete either of these housing application/contract processes. It is very important to review the apartment agreement terms and conditions or the residence hall contract terms and conditions prior to signing an agreement or contract.
What are Jardine Apartments?
Jardine Apartments is a safe and comfortable "home away from home" for more than 1,500 residents from about 50 different countries. Each unit is filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents are not required to purchase a meal plan, but there are options available. The apartments are located on the northwest side of campus, steps away from the recreational facilities and athletic complex. Many buildings have been recently built or renovated.
Jardine is affordably priced and competitive with off-campus living options. Residents have access to many amenities and services, including wireless Internet, trash, water and laundry. Four playground areas, covered picnic locations, a basketball court, rentable garden plots, and a pond area create opportunities for outdoor community living. There are multiple apartment style options available in Jardine. Jardine has a limited inventory of the most popular option (traditional and renovated apartments), but there are other options that can help support your academic career.
What are the residence halls?
Residence Halls are a place where students live that creates a great opportunity to find community and support. K-State has 10 residence halls that each have a unique community. Most room options include a roommate. A leadership and scholarship house (all female) is also available via an additional application process and a Honors Housing community in Putnam and Van Zile is opening starting Fall 2024 for students actively participating in the University Honors program. The residence hall contract is for the academic year, but billed per semester to your student account so that financial aid can be applied.
Traditional spaces include doubles and triples with a community bathroom. Students who live in Traditional-Private rooms share a bathroom with a bank of sinks and lockable, individual bathrooms with a sink, toilet and shower. Suites offer amenities such as private bathrooms and carpet, and accommodate two to four occupants. A limited number of single rooms with a community bathroom also are available. Singles and suites carry an additional charge, and may not be available in every hall.
Residence halls are furnished with a twin bed and mattress, desk, desk chair, dresser or built in drawers, closet space, and trashcans. There are central gathering spaces for meeting other students and creating community on most floors of each residence hall. All of our residence halls have a community kitchen that is shared with all the residents in the residence hall. Other amenities include elevators, convenience stores in each complex, weight lifting room, study rooms, and laundry facilities in each residence hall.
