K-State Dining Services Best in State
Nov. 1, 2018 — Kansas State University has the best college dining program in Kansas, according to a set of rankings from the website Niche.com.
Study spaces available in Derby and Kramer
Oct. 9, 2018 — K-State Libraries currently offers study spaces in various Housing and Dining Services locations throughout the week. These include 5-10 p.m. in Derby 134 and 5-11 p.m. in the Meadowlark Room located on Kramer’s second floor, Sunday through Thursday. All students are welcome to utilize these spaces for individual and group studying.
Register to vote: A how-to guide for students
Oct. 8, 2018 — The Department of Housing and Dining Services encourages students to make their voice heard by registering to vote, and by voting in the upcoming election. Students can utilize this how-to guide to register to vote.
Smooth Move: Instructions for Move-In Day 2018
Aug. 16, 2018 — Saturday, Aug. 18, is the official move-in day at K-State’s residence halls. Housing and dining services offers a warm welcome to all new and returning residents, and offers information to help them make the transition from home to college.
Kids can cook with chef at Union Station
July 10, 2018 — Union Station by JP's welcomes kids ages 5-14 to sign up for a fun-filled evening of cooking with Chef Kate Sinnard. Cooking will be from 6-7:30 p.m. on Mondays, beginning July 16 until mid-December.
Student Leaders reflect on year, receive awards
May 16, 2018 — The National Residence Hall Honorary recognized student leaders in the housing and dining services community on Monday, April 30, at the annual Leadership Reception.
Faculty Member of the Year awarded to Dr. Maria DePaoli
April 17, 2018 — Maria DePaoli, associate professor of modern languages, has been named housing and dining services’ Faculty Member of the Year. She was nominated by her student Kyley Ast, junior in elementary education.
Boyd hall recognizes housekeeper, receives regional award
March 30, 2018 — Boyd Hall second floor was awarded the regional residence hall community of the month by NRHH. RA Mary White nominated her floor for their recognition efforts toward their housekeeper, Joy Campbell.
Tunnel of Awareness educates students on oppression
March 28, 2018 — On Monday, March 26 Housing and Dining Services hosted the Tunnel of Awareness. Students took a tour through rooms, which depicted many forms of oppression such as police brutality, undocumented students, cyber bullying and mental wellness.
JP's Sports Grill announces student employee scholarship recipients
March 13, 2018 — JP’s Sports Grill recently announced Scott Hazelton and Elliot Schrag as JP’s Scholarship recipients for the spring 2018 semester.
Awareness campaign receives regional award
March 1, 2018 — An awareness campaign titled "Human Trafficking: a Global Issue" was recently recognized on the regional level by the National Residence Hall Honorary as the passive program of the month.
Dining center unit director recognized for watermelon recipe
Feb. 27, 2018 — Camille Korenek developed and entered her recipe, Watermelon Shrimp Spicy Asian Crudité, into the 2017 Watermelon Recipe Contestant where it was chosen by the board for use as outreach to foodservice media. The recipe was also featured in a Foodservice Director magazine article this February.
Student staff receive recognition, rewards
Feb. 26, 2018 — Kansas State University was one of 15 schools chosen by the International Foodservice Manufactures Association to receive financial awards in 2017. Four K-State dining services student employees were chosen by the association to receive IFMA scholarships, and one received an internship stipend.
Union Station by JP's grand opening is March 1
Feb. 6, 2018 — The JP's brand is bringing its same great food and service to the K-State Student Union with its new gastropub concept. Join the department for the grand opening from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, March 1.
Ford coordinator receives regional advisor of the month
Jan. 25, 2018 — Melinda Gilliam, assistant community coordinator of Ford Hall, was recognized by the National Residence Hall Honorary as the regional winner for advisor of the month in December 2017.
JP's Sports Grill expands, Fast Track opens in Union
Jan. 24, 2018 — JP’s Sports Grill, originally located at Jardine Apartments, now has two locations in the Union. Fast Track opened Jan. 16, but an opening date for Union Station by JP’s has not yet been announced.
New lunch options available at K-State Student Union
Jan. 24, 2018 — Fast Track, a quick-service counter adjacent to the new Union Station by JP's restaurant, is now open.
